This year’s banquet will be held at the “Hilton Garden Inn/San Diego Mission Valley/Stadium”. The Hilton Garden Inn is located at 3805 Murphy Canyon Road in San Diego, approximately 6 miles west of SDSU (map link below). Onsite parking for the event is free.

The Friday evening event begins with a social hour at 6pm (no-host cash bar), then dinner at 7pm. The meal will be followed by the evening’s program which will include an overview of the Department by the current Chair, Dr. Allen Gontz, who arrived at SDSU in August 2016.

The Baylor Brooks Honored Alumni Award will be presented to this year’s deserving alumnus, Tony V. Sawyer. Tony is currently a Hydrogeologist with the County of San Diego’s Department of Public Works’ Landfill Management Division. He graduated with his BS degree in Geophysics from SDSU in 1981. His graduate studies at SDSU emphasized hydrogeology. Tony has been an active volunteer with the SDSU Geology Alumni Association for many years.

The dinner will NOT be buffet-style. The plated selections include marinated flank steak, oven roasted herb marinated chicken breast, or penne pasta (vegetarian). More details on the next page. Please indicate your selection on the reservation form.

As a fund-raiser to partially fund students’ banquet meals and other SDSU Geology Alumni Association activities, there is a silent auction that will be set up at the beginning of the evening and will conclude after the evening’s program. If you have any items to donate to the auction, please bring them at 6pm and/or contact Sue at Remember to bring cash/check for your silent auction “wins”!
