In this example, the distortion of a deck of cards by simple shear is modeled. As the top of the deck is moved to the right the lengths of the sides of the deck that are parallel to the Y and X axes do not change, while the lengths that start out parallel to the Z axis increase. Note also that during simple shear the sides of the deck that start out parallel to the Z axis appear to rotate about the Y axis as they lengthen.
